The Farrier, hotel in Scarborough

Located in Scarborough, 1.5 miles from Cayton Bay Beach, The Farrier provides accommodations with a terrace, free private parking, a restaurant and a bar.

Everything. I really have no words to describe the perfection of the Old Stables room (loft? Mini-apartment?) I would happily live there forever. The room was huge, beautifully decorated in a fabulous equestrian motif (the Farrier is at the original blacksmith shop), sparkling clean, and too many amenities to list. The food is delicious and plentiful. We had the full English breakfast and it set us up for the whole day! Everyone on staff were really lovely and so kind. I wish we could’ve stayed for more than one night!

The Edwardian and Victorian history really makes Scarborough...

The Edwardian and Victorian history really makes Scarborough. So much to see and lots to read to understand this history. If you are prepared to walk then you will really get a glimpse into the past. The cliff side tram ways make ascending a breeze and £1.30 single trip is reasonable. Do abit of research and grap a guide book. Also easy access to Bempton RSPB, Filey and Whitby. Well worth a mini break.

    Love Scarborough so much.

Love Scarborough so much. My husband and I got married there last year. We make sure we go at least once a year and this year stayed at the south cliff and found a cliff lift we didn't know about so that was a bonus as husband suffers with back pain and finds it hard to walk up hill. But this meant we didn't need to use public transport and taxis.

Scarborough is a beautiful seaside town, it has everything...

Scarborough is a beautiful seaside town, it has everything you need to have a relaxed holiday or lots to do for the kids! Peasholm park is a beautiful place with a huge lake and forest trails and a model ship naval battle in the summer! you can see squirrels running around, and loads of different insects! there's an app you can get to search for dinosaurs its great! Or you can spend the day on the beach with the donkeys! take a pirate ship trip around the bay or ride a speedboat! open top buses are every 20 minutes back and forth to the park and sea life centre too. The town has lots of shops everything you need if self catering too, great bars and restaurants and of course lots of fish and chip shops!

    Scarborough has something for everyone.

Scarborough has something for everyone. The north shore where I stayed is quieter but has the castle at one end and the sealife centre at the other. The miniature railway and park are nearby. The beach is clean and dog friendly ( they are not allowed in high season). The south shore has the amusements, more tourists shops and the pier. There are boat tours you can book here too. There are many museums to visit, one ticket to visit them all. If self catering, many small store and supermarkets are around along with the main town centre where you will find a variety of local artisan shops and restaurants as well as more mainstream ones.

Like many seaside towns Scarborough is run down and dirty it...

Like many seaside towns Scarborough is run down and dirty it attracts many people who are looking for seasonal work but often have social problems making for an unpleasant atmosphere in the streets. There is a virtual plague of Seagulls they are everywhere fighting, squawking among themselves dive bombing in the streets aggressively pinching food, bird droppings adorn all the buildings and the streets. It would not harm the birds to move them by not allowing them to nest on buildings. There is not much to do in the town other than eat, drink and play the penny slots. The shopping is very poor. The beach is very nice and the park also. The water park is currently closed. The outdoor theatre does have very good concerts in the summer and would be the only reason to come back. Dog lovers should love the town but it's not for me.

Location is secondary to this Hotel.... The Hotel itself should be on a place to go to and enjoy. Having said that: ignore Scarborough. Go to Cayton Beach - half hour walk, 5 mins car from the hotel. Then go to Beverly, Whitby or Robin Hoods Bay . The Farrier is an experience you should have. One of the best Hotels I have ever had the pleasure of staying at. Staff, Food, Rooms: exceptional. High end Kitchen. Down to Earth Staffing. High Value Surroundings. Perfect.

The hotel is lovely and spotlessly clean, rooms are immaculate with really comfy beds, breakfast was brilliant with plenty of options, but I think the best part has to be the service and staff. Everyone is so helpful, friendly and lovely that it’s the highlight of the stay. Each person goes out of their way to help and make you feel welcome. We wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Scarborough but here after our visit. Faultless and we can’t wait to come back! : )

Excellent hotel. Great location and short walk to the beach. Room provided was huge, and the hotel very accommodating to provide a z bed for an additional family member. Exceptionally clean. Good bar and the breakfast included had an impressive selection (and this is great for us as vegetarians). Also given a parking disk so we could explore Scarborough without the worry of fines/moving the car. Highly recommend.
