This is my favourite place in Dar Es Salaam. You are in the middle of the nature, you wake up in the morning hearing the sea waves. It is easy to take the Kigamboni ferry from the city center and then walk to the camp. The breakfast is included and delicious, and you can try other dishes from the menu for lunch and dinner for a very good price. The place has a generator, so the camp is not affected by electricity outages. I liked that every evening someone sets the mosquito net around the bed for me, and the room is sprayed against mosquitoes.

Having never been to Dar, we were so grateful of the The Salvation Army Compound this hostel is linked with, offering a space of tranquility in a city that feels like it never stops. It very quickly felt like a home away from home. And the staff were willing to help with anything you asked. It was a real pleasure meeting the team, and even better knowing any money they make off your room booking goes into helping other programmes that the organisation are running in Tanzania.
