A fresh, modern hotel with a welcoming reception area and friendly, helpful staff. The perfect location for anybody with tickets to a show at The Fire Station (3 min walk). Great onsite bar, perfect for a nightcap with a snack menu being served until late. You need to book well in advance if you want to watch the Black Cats at the stadium of light! There is a nice railway connection to nearby Seaham if you want to visit. You can walk along the Wear through a sculpture park and the city centre is excellent for cheap food and drink.

Sunderland was good, but if you want 4* service at 4* prices don't go to The Grand. Only pub food and you make your own bed and carry out own room service. REALLY NOT ON. Good point, staff lovely and very helpful

Sunderland is a lovely city with lots of things to see and do. The coast here is beautiful with interesting beaches and walks. The people we spoke to were welcoming and friendly everywhere we went. Food was great, reasonable prices and delicious. Will definitely go back to see more of this lovely part of the country.

Everything you could wish for, have now stayed three times and will continue to do so.Rooms are excellent, well furnished and very clean.Only downside at the moment is roadworks outside the hotel which have been apparent since our first visit with no sign of work being finished, fortunately this did not affect our visit, apart from the fact it was a waste booking a sea view room.

Location was superb. Roker beach was only a 5 mins walk away. Parking outside the house was free. There are many dog friendly cafes nearby and the views were gorgeous. Everyone was really friendly. The Roker Hotel bar was superb and had a good range of beers and their own Poetic Licence Gin! It is only a 5 mins walk from the air Bn B.

We were in Sunderland to see P!nk and we’re spoiled, with the hotel lobby decorated with p!nk cardboard cut-outs, her music playing, staff wearing her T-shirts and my daughter was spoiled with goodies, even allowed to take a life size pink home with us! amazing service!

The hotel was lovely. The menu and food were great and the staff in the restaurant were very friendly. The room was large and the bed was extremely comfortable. Despite two parties going on that night we weren't disturbed by noise at all and slept really well ☺️

Having participated in the GNR, the hotel allowed guests who’d stayed the night before, to leave their car in the car park and return for a shower. This generosity was greatly appreciated and would be enough to make me stay again if I ever return to Sunderland.

The owner of the property is exceptional. He attends and replies so quickly to all of our queries. Even those that are beyond her scope already. The property itself is close to city centre and has a decent neighborhood.

The hotel is probably the best placed in Sunderland. The Inn / pub below is very nice but tees you up for a bit of a let down once you get to the rooms. Balcony / views are excellent.
